Becoming a Cybersecurity Architect : Certifications, Labs, and Real-World Experience

Bijgewerkt op: 9 aug 2023

As someone who’s passionate about Cybersecurity, I’m constantly striving to improve my skills and knowledge in the field. My ultimate goal is to become a cybersecurity architect in Azure, and I’ve been taking steps to achieve that goal.

One of the steps I’ve taken is obtaining several Azure and CompTIA certifications. These certifications have given me a solid foundation of knowledge and demonstrated my competency in key areas of cybersecurity.

However, I know that there’s more to becoming a cybersecurity architect than just earning certifications. That’s why I’ve also been doing a lot of labs from GitHub that are directed towards the Azure portal. I’ve learned how to work with various Azure services, how to configure security policies, and how to monitor security events. These labs have allowed me to practice my skills and prepare for real-world scenarios, and gaining practical experience and familiarize myself with the Azure platform. While labs and simulations are an excellent way to learn and gain experience, I recognize that they don’t always present the complex challenges and scenarios that companies face in the real world. It’s like learning how to swim in a calm, crystal-clear swimming pool, but then you get thrown into the ocean with waves and all sorts of creatures lurking beneath the surface. The world of cybersecurity is an ever-changing landscape, and nothing can fully prepare you for the unexpected challenges that arise without first experiencing them firsthand. I need practical experience to prepare myself for the unpredictability and chaos of the real world.

That being said, I’m still working towards achieving additional certifications that are aligned with my ultimate goal of becoming a cybersecurity architect. These certifications will help me stay current with the latest trends, threats, and technologies in the field. They provide a foundation of knowledge! It’s essential to gain practical experience and exposure to real-world problems to truly prepare for the role of a cybersecurity architect.

I know that my journey to becoming a cybersecurity architect won’t happen overnight. It will take time, effort, and dedication to achieve my goals. But with every certification I earn, every lab I complete, and every real-world problem I solve, I’m confident that I can achieve my ultimate goal!
